You come first, this is your story, your path. If you embrace the coaching model, you will learn to unlock solutions that are best for you. Individual coaching is driven by your agenda and the topic you bring to each session. In group sessions, I coordinate but the path we take is determined by the group in a collaborative, mutually supportive environment.

What is coaching?

Coaching is a collaborative process whereby you, the client, bring your expertise in your life to address challenging topics you are facing and I, the coach, ask open-ended, meaningful questions to help you unlock your wisdom. These meaningful questions are designed to help you view your topic from a new or different perspective and to help you arrive at a solution that is consistent with your values, principles and goals. My goal is to support, challenge and encourage you to help you get the most out of your career and to, hopefully, provide you with a figurative compass that you can use for the rest of your life to keep you on course for living your best life.

Coaching is NOT

Coaching is not advice, therapy or coach-provided answers. I am not a therapist and not qualified to treat or diagnose mental illness. As your coach, I will not tell you what to do or direct a path for you. I will not interject my opinions nor tell you what I would do in your circumstance.

Coaching is not for everyone. You may be feeling stuck and just want someone to give you advice or answers. My role as your coach, however, is not to tell you what to do; it is, rather, to assist you in finding your solution. I understand that it can sound frustrating or tedious. The coaching process requires a lot of trust and effort on your part. The gains, however, will be all yours!

What is the difference between individual coaching and group coaching sessions?

The agenda for the individual sessions is driven by you, the client. You bring the topic and desired takeaway to each session and the focus is entirely on you. Each session will last up to one hour (I say "up to" because sometimes you may feel that you achieved what you wished and there is no reason to prolong the session).

The measure of success for both individual and group coaching is for you to gain actionable takeaways while feeling supported, encouraged, hopefully re-energized and maybe challenged. The group dynamic adds camaraderie and mutual support.

Group sessions typically follow an agenda but remain flexible to address the focus of the group. Groups are limited to no more than 8 participants to enable participation by each client. Group clients are expected and encouraged to support each other and build a positive, affirming atmosphere.

What is the free 30-minute exploratory session?

This session is designed to help you get comfortable with the coaching process, answer any questions you may have, and to conduct a mini coaching session. I realize that hiring a coach can be a significant investment and the purpose of the one-time free session, therefore, is to give you an opportunity to see if this is a good fit for you. I will ask you to come to this session with a topic and a desired takeaway/action item.

How or where do the sessions happen?

Both individual and group sessions are conducted via telephone only. So, you can join the session from wherever you wish. I just ask that you are in a place with minimal distractions and background noise.

The benefit of conducting sessions over the phone, without video, is that distractions are minimized, and it allows me to fully focus on you and what you are saying.

What types of group sessions are offered?

Introductory session - overview of coaching, questions designed to help you select which path forward works best for you. This session may include up to 20 participants and last up to 1.5 hours.
Love my career but don't love my job group - address coping with, managing difficult job situations.
Need to make a big change group - navigate next steps to get the most out of your career
Gonna be an entrepreneur group - focused on starting a business.
Financial Focus - the group supports one another on each person's path to controlling their finances.
Each of the topic-oriented groups will have 12 sessions (with the potential to extend), a maximum of 8 participants and each session will run one hour.

Experience and Education

My name is Doug Isenberg and I am a trained life coach with over 20 years' experience advising clients as an attorney and investment advisor. I have a JD/MBA from a top 20 law school and practiced law for 7 years at large and medium sized law firms before transitioning to banking and then starting my own investment advisory firm.

My greatest reward is helping others succeed both professionally and personally. I have lived a professional life filled with starts, stops and transitions. Resilience and re-prioritization of my goals were necessary to grow and evolve. Through trial and error, I have found my true purpose to be to help others. There is nothing like the satisfaction of playing a part in another's journey to living their best life.
